'Oceanids'

Contemporary by U invites Sonia Alins from Spain to present her first solo exhibition in Taiwan, "Oceanids", which refers to the three thousand daughters representing streams, rivers, pools, lakes and the sea in Greek mythology. Specializing in illustration, Sonia Irene often uses three-dimensional elements and collage to break through the work itself and present surrealistic nature scenes with poetic expression, fusing her personal feelings, desires, dreams and nightmares into her works. At the same time, Alin's extensive use of the female figure allows her work to embody a sense of transparency and the expressive power of ambiguous elements, exploring themes related to female energy and feminism.

In the series "Oceanids", water is the main element in this series, and one can feel that the energy of water makes the emotions in each piece amplified, strongly conveying the artist's inner emotions. In the process of creation, Irene works entirely by hand, using different types of materials, such as paper, printed paper, muslin, thread, plastic, and objects, and finding the right transparency and blurring in the images to insert the subjects, so that the whole body shows the best performance and the audience can feel the depth and beauty through these works.

The female figures in the works symbolize the various moments of Irene's life as a woman, representing the different emotional stages she has experienced in a surreal and quietly gentle way, capturing the delicate emotions that can be felt in life, whether they are passionate, happy, sensitive, or sad, all of which can be fused with the artist's own experiences to show the audience in the works.
